The Kaizen Inbound SEO Process

Keyword research: Keyword research is how we identify what keywords are relevant to your business and what keywords will be targeted by specific website pages. Good keyword research and selection is the foundation of any successful SEO campaign. A balance of low – high competition keywords should be selected in order to gain shorter term wins from lower competition keywords, while making slow and steady long term progress with top competition main keywords.

With keyword research, it’s also important to understand that search engine results are highly personalized to the individual today. When evaluating keyword position for any SEO campaign, users will see differences in rankings based on their location, past search history, website visits, and more. Keyword rankings are specific to each user, which makes rankings more of a generic metric. As the SEO campaign progresses, we look at organic conversion data to find the most efficient conversions and prioritize them with our optimization efforts.

On-site optimization: Proper on-site optimization is imperative to a successful SEO campaign. Without proper on-site optimization, the website would be fighting an up-hill battle against all other competition websites that are optimized properly. Because of this, proper access to optimize on-page elements such as:

  • title tags
  • meta descriptions
  • headings
  • image alt tags
  • meta data and schema markup

As well as proper keyword optimization of the on page elements mentioned above, Kaizen Inbound always ensures to audit and fix technical website issues that may even sometimes only be seen by analyzing the website sourcecode. Issues such as:

  • page header status codes
  • internal link analysis
  • DNS resolution issues
  • mixed secure / unsecure content
  • URL structure
  • redirect issues
  • text-HTML ratios
  • sitemaps
  • robots.txt
  • and more…

Content creation strategy: Ever heard that content is king? In the SEO industry, this phrase has been repeated time and time again for years. This is because content is absolutely essential to have any success with SEO at all. Basic website content with targeted keyword optimization and LSI taken in to consideration is very important, as well as extended and more rhobust content pieces that drive traffic and links to a website. At Kaizen Inbound, we do a complete audit of your website’s content down to the page level. By going in to this level of detail with our content audit, we are able to find pages with little or sometimes basically no content. We then bring these pages up to an acceptable level in terms of content length and quality.

Duplicate content is also audited at this stage to identify any duplicate content issues that may be detrimental to search engine rankings. Search engines can detect if multiple pages on the website have the same content and can even lower search engine rankings when this is detected. Because of this, any pages that have the same content are either combined to create 1 unique page of content or additional content is created to make both pages unique.

After taking care of basic website content issues, more advanced and in depth content can be created. This content is used to create interesting or informational pieces that people are interested in, share on social media, and even link to. This helps gain new links and website traffic, which increases the amount of people who find a client’s website organically through search engine results.

Inbound link strategy: The inbound link strategy relates closely to the content creation strategy. Quality content creation drives new inbound links to the website, but inbound link strategy goes beyond just the client’s website. This process involved reaching out to other websites that are relevant to the client’s industry and partnering / contributing content. In exchange for contributing content to these websites, links are gained for the client website as the source of the content. Often times, guest contributions will be made on other websites and linked back to the client site to cite information or a resource on the client’s website.

Inbound links from other websites are essentially seen somewhat as “votes” by the search engines and these votes are used to rank websites in search results. This is why on-site optimization can only take a website so high in competitive ranking industries. A solid inbound link strategy takes a well optimized website to the top of the search results for the targeted keywords. Quality is key with inbound links due to the sophistication of search engine algorithms today. In the past, it was possible to create large amounts of links that had no purpose through various methods and it worked well to rank websites. Today, search engines have evolved to be able to filter out these types of links and even sometimes penalize sites for these types of links. This is why we take the best approach possible to earn quality links that are gained editorially through quality content.

Conversion & goal tracking: Tracking website conversions properly gives the information necessary to make data driven decisions. Looking at conversion data gives the ability to prioritize the highest converting traffic and optimize website pages accordingly. Conversions are tracked and compared month to month and year over year to show trends in conversions specifically from organic traffic. Without conversion tracking and defining website goals, there’s no way to measure the success of the SEO campaign. This is the reason that website conversions are audited and set up correctly if not already in place from the beginning of the SEO campaign as part of our standard on-boarding process.

Conversion rate optimization (CRO): As more traffic is gained from from the SEO campaign, this traffic is continuously analyzed for conversions. Implementation of new call to actions, conversion elements, buttons, website forms, and more are suggested and implemented on client websites. Page conversion rates can be compared before and after website changes to establish high converting additions that can be made to web pages. Increasing the conversion rate of the website traffic allows more revenue to be generated per visit, generating the maximum value from the website traffic.
